Dear Colleagues,

You may recall in mid-November I reached out to you regarding a new flagship beamline under consideration as part of the upgrade of the Diamond Light Source facility.

Following on from the highly successful webinar held in November regarding this beamline we are now looking for letters of support from the community.

Please help us support a new solution state beam line (X4SCM) that will provide simultaneous USAXS/SAXS/WAXS information in a single exposure and two new X-ray techniques: X-ray foot printing mass spectrometry (XFMS) and diffracted X-ray tracking (DXT).

Most crucially, the proposed X4SCM beamline will provide information on soft matter systems, in a single, time-resolved, exposure allowing insight from the atomic to micron scale simultaneously via utilisation of multiple, synchronised, detector banks.

If you would like to support X4SCM, please follow this link:

choosing "Soft Condensed Matter - New High flux X-ray Beamline for soft condensed matter sciences (X4SCM)" as the proposal you are wishing to support. The deadline for completion of this support submission is the 23rd of November 2020.

I would like to thank all of you for reading this message and I look forward to any support that you are able to provide for the next generation of small angle scattering beamlines at Diamond Light Source.

Best wishes,

On behalf of the Diamond-II X4SCM User Working Group
