- In 1992 an international conference on Resonant Anomalous X-Ray Scattering was held in Malente (Hamburg, Germany; 'Resonant Anomalous X-Ray Scattering', by G. Materlik, C.J. Sparks & K. Fischer, North-Holland, 1994). The aim was to bring together scientists using this novel technique specific to synchrotron radiation in a variety of fields.



20 years or so later, mature third generation synchrotrons open a broad range of applications such as in magnetism and in nanoscience.



Aim of the conference:

Bring together scientists from different fields in condensed matter to share their experience and results.



Synthetic keynote/overview lectures will cover the following topics:

- Fundamentals of resonant scattering

- Electronic correlations

- Magnetism

- Nanostructures

- Soft condensed matter, polymers and glasses

- Materials Science and Chemistry,

- Instrumentation.



Though not covered by the conference, Multiwavelength Anomalous Diffraction in protein crystallography will be addressed through a guest talk giving a physicist's point of view on structure factor phasing.



Techniques addressed cover reflectivity, small and wide angle x-ray scattering, diffraction, grazing incidence, multiwavelength anomalous diffraction, diffraction anomalous fine structure, magnetic scattering, coherent scattering as applied to single crystals, powders, nanostructures, glasses, multi-phase materials...



The REXS2011 proceedings will gather keynote, invited lectures and selected papers in a EPR special Topics, in order to produce a reference textbook.



The conference will extend over 5 days, from 13th afternoon to 17th mid-day, with a half-day session per topic including a keynote lecture, two invited and 3 to 4 contributed talks. Posters will be displayed throughout the conference with a dedicated session on the second day. A visit of the ESRF is proposed on the last afternoon.
