Posdoctoral Position in Small Angle X-ray Scattering
911-4 station, MAX-IV Laboratory, Lund University, Sweden

JOB ASSIGNMENT:
The 911-4 is the newest SAXS side station at the Cassiopeia beamline of MAX-IV laboratory in Lund, Sweden. The beamline was opened to the scientific community in April 2011 and presently we are working to consolidate and expand the activities there with the implementation of new sample environments and data collections routines. The beamline is also collaborating with a very active Scandinavian scattering community mainly dedicated to nanomaterials and soft matter science.
We are looking for a motivated young scientist for a post-doc position, with ascertainable SAXS experience in both, experimental and data analysis in the technique. Skills in Linux as well as knowledge in X-ray optics is an advantage.
As part of the SAXS team, the candidate will work in close collaboration with several partners with different scientific and technical profiles.
The person selected will be involved in the development of new instrumentation to provide simultaneous and complementary information to the structural scattering results. One of the projects to be executed will include the implementation of a hyphenated optical spectroscopy (Raman) technique to fit into the existing SAXS setup.
The candidate will also have the possibility of developing his/her own research project within the frame set by available beamtime.
The Postdoc is expected to dedicate part of his time to the user support activities and the beamline diagnostic.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CANDIDATE
Ph.D degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Material Science or equivalent. Knowledge in the SAXS technique is required. Experience in other characterization techniques as Raman, FTIR or calorimetry, will be appreciated.
Doctorate should have been awarded within three years before the application deadline.
