Physical Chemist/Physicist Post Doctoral Position

Basic Purpose

Responsible for implementing and supporting small-angle x-ray scattering
(SAXS) and wide angle high energy scattering in state-of-the-art
synchrotron-based experiments including data collection and data reduction
for in situ studies of catalytic reactions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental and
experimental aspects of x-ray scattering (SAXS, GISAXS, ASAXS, WAXS, PDF).
Also, candidate should be skilled in the structural and spectroscopic
characterization of new compounds and materials using synchrotron radiation.
Experience in conducting experiments at a user facility and experience in a
science area such as catalysis is important. Candidate should have
considerable skill in designing and implementing high-quality experiments
and in understanding abstract concepts and synthesizing results within the
current experimental and theoretical framework. Working within a team
environment and good knowledge of laboratory safety rules and regulations is
important. This level of knowledge and skill is typically achieved through
a Ph.D. degree and 0-1 year experience or equivalent in a research
environment. A Ph.D in chemistry, physics, material science, or a related
field is required.
