ANSTO-CSIRO Joint Post Doctoral Fellowship

Protein Scattering/Crystallography

Attractive Salary Package

2 Year Term

ANSTO and the CSIRO Food Futures Flagship are seeking a recent PhD
graduate with a strong focus on innovation, good communication skills
and a proven publication record to join a unique research collaboration.
We are looking for a researcher who can work well within
cross-disciplinary teams and can collaborate strongly with industrial
partners.

The fellow will work in a major initiative applying a multidisciplinary
approach to understand the factors that influence the material
properties of proteins. Particular focus will be on correlating the
molecular properties of proteins with their behaviour in solution,
during drying and re-hydration, initially pure and subsequently as mixed
systems. The project will make extensive use of small angle X-ray and
neutron scattering and quasi-elastic neutron scattering to obtain both
structural and dynamic information and relate these data to a range of
factors including moisture content, temperature, pH, ionic strength and
co-solutes.

The fellow will interact closely with collaborators in Food Science
Australia and The University of Queensland and with industry through a
protein research consortium.

Experience in the application of X-ray or neutron scattering methods to
investigate bio-systems, particularly proteins, is essential.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants will require a security and
medical assessment.
