Dear Colleagues,

Registration is now open for the fifth workshop of the Collective

Action for Nomadic Small Angle

Scatterers (canSAS) which will be held from October 28-31 2007 at the

National Institute of Standards

and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA.

canSAS-V is aimed at anyone with a particular interest in the use and

application of Small-Angle Scattering (SAS) techniques; e.g.,

Instrument/Beam line Scientists, Frequent SAS Users, SAS Beam line

Software Developers, Facility/Third-party Software Developers

(particularly those involved with data file formats, instrument/

sample environment control).

canSAS is a "self-help network" whose original stated aim was to

promote and simplify the sharing of Small-Angle Scattering (SAS) data

- be it light, X-ray or neutron - between Facilities and between

Users, but its interests now also encompass the discussion and

evaluation of emerging (principally software) technologies and the

recommendation of "best practice" (where feasible) in pursuit of this

aim.

Submissions for talks and posters are invited on three topic areas

that will be the focus of the meeting:

(1) A Common Bedouin Language : Data Interchange

(2) Virtual Nomadism: Distributed collaboration and data analysis

(3) Standardized Camels: Is the hump the same whichever ruler I use

       to measure it?

More details about the meeting, contact details, abstract submission

and registration can be found at:

                             http://www.smallangles.net/canSAS/

We look forward to seeing you in October!

Andrew Jackson

Paul Butler

on behalf of the canSAS-V committee.
